Firethorne Ladies Club Hosts First Safety Day
for Community Kids
Katy/Fulshear – Sept. 12, 2007. . . . The Firethorne Ladies
Club hosted its first-ever children’s Safety Day at Firethorne
last month that included interactive presentations by the Katy Independent
School District Police Department, a Fire Truck on display from
the Fulshear-Simonton Fire Department and a Bike Rodeo to promote
bicycle safety -- all topped off by a whirling visit by the Memorial
Hermann Hospital “Life Flight” helicopter. More than
120 children and parents attended the debut event.
“We had the DARE officer for WoodCreek Elementary speak to the
children about ‘Stranger Danger’ and conduct the Bike
Rodeo, plus a meet and greet with the new school’s principal,
Ronald (Ronnie) Mosher, Jr.,” said Firethorne Ladies Club Chairperson
Amy Norvell, who helped organize the activities. “We were extremely
pleased with the turnout and great participation of Firethorne families,” she
added.
Other Safety Day participants were the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s
Department and Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office.
Norvell and her husband are in law enforcement: she serves as Dispatch
Supervisor for Katy ISD Police and he, Chad Norvell, is Chief Deputy,
Ft. Bend County Constable, Pct. 4.
