Katy/Fulshear – May 10, 2006. . . . .Firethorne recently celebrated its Grand Opening with a tropical theme party, transforming its Visitors Center into an island oasis on the banks its 12-acre lake. Approximately 400 guests were greeted with fresh orchid leis from Hawaii, thatched “tiki” stands laden with a full array of fresh seafood and other tropical fare, music by a Jimmy Buffett-style band and even visits by a pair of tropical birds. Topping off the festivities were a lively African dance performance and an awe-inspiring grand finale fireworks display.

The festivities began at 6 p.m. under picture-perfect blue skies. As the evening progressed, guests became mesmerized by the sunset, a watercolor wash of deep oranges, roses and rusts. It proved to be nature’s most ideal backdrop for Firethorne, Katy/Fulshear’s newest master-designed community. The 1,400-acre residential community is located on FM 1463 near I-10 in Katy/Fulshear.

In addition to the tasty tropical menu and lively entertainment, guests enjoyed tours of fully furnished model homes built by Coventry, David Powers, David Weekley, Perry and Plantation Homes.

At every turn activity abounds at Firethorne, whose landmark is an 18-foot tall Firethorne sculpture at its entrance.
